Kitchain

Kitchain is a restaurant operations SaaS for independent restaurants and small chains in Indonesia. The product connects the full operational loop: what was sold, which recipe it came from, which ingredient batches were consumed, how the kitchen fulfilled it, and what the business earned at the end of the day.

The Problem

Independent restaurants often run POS, inventory, recipe costing, kitchen flow, and reporting across disconnected tools, creating stockouts, unreliable food-cost visibility, and decisions based on guesswork.

The Insight

The strongest product leverage came from treating orders and inventory as one system. A menu item is not just something to sell; it is a chain of recipe, batch, cost, fulfillment, and reporting consequences.

The Solution

I built Kitchain as a tenant-aware Next.js platform with self-host and SaaS modes. It includes authentication, tenant and role bootstrap, dashboard KPIs, inventory batches, menu and recipe management, POS orders, QR dine-in ordering, online pickup, kitchen display, reporting, users, roles, settings, and public ordering URLs. The core order engine keeps channel, fulfillment, payment status, idempotency, and stock-consumption policies explicit, while FEFO inventory traces consumption to the actual batches used. The project is around 92% MVP-ready and has 21 automated tests covering the order state machine, idempotency, channel policy mapping, and consumption guards.
